The Role of Vastu in Contemporary Living

Offices are where Vastu tends to meet the most resistance, and where the results are easiest to observe. Seating orientation, the position of the reception desk, where the accounts team sits, which wall the founder's cabin backs onto — these are decisions a business makes once and lives with for years.
The recommendations follow a consistent logic. Face north or east when you work, so you are not staring into afternoon glare. Keep a solid wall behind you rather than a corridor. Put storage and heavy files in the south-west. Leave the north-east open — that is the corner most offices fill with a printer and a stack of cartons.
For commercial spaces the entrance matters more than anything else. It sets the first impression, and in Vastu terms it determines how energy enters the building. An entrance blocked by a pillar, a shoe rack or a badly placed reception counter is the single most common problem we are asked to fix.
None of this requires rebuilding. In most of the offices we visit, the corrections are a seating plan, a storage move and a lighting change — carried out over a weekend.
